Getting Ready for Gilding Wax

Those of you that have been using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® for a little while probably remember the gilding wax that we used to carry. Gilding wax is a very easy and fun way to add some great highlights to your piece. Well the wait is almost over and we are expecting a shipment of gilding waxes in the near future. If you are interested please give us a call at 215-233-3325 to verify that our shipment has arrived. In the mean time we're going to show you some great examples of what you can do with a little bit of gilding wax.

One of the easiest ways to use gilding wax is to apply it to your hardware.

As you can see the silver really pops off of this red painted dresser.

Even more contrast on this Graphite painted dresser.

This bombe chest of drawers is an excellent candidate because of the brass hardware under the drawers and on the sides.

The floral style handles that you usually find on French Provincial furniture are really great for gilding wax if the metal is tarnished or faded.

Both handles and knobs look great!

You can also work the gilding into the piece itself. Whether you are putting it over or under the paint it is a great way to highlight detail and provide addition color.

If you have any relief detail then gild it!!

Really good for applying to ornate picture frames too.

Mirrors too!

Looks great with dark wax too!

This is more of a gilding leaf applied than wax, but we carry gilding leaf too!

Layer it under your paint for a distressed & gilded finish!

Remember with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® you can paint other things besides furniture!

A combination of colors and techniques but this secretary really has an old world, French feel.

We usually apply with our fingers but it is advisable that you use a glove!

Really adds a great touch to painted mason jars.

Not a lot of contrast but the silver gilding compliments the grey paint phantastically!

Gold gilding wax was applied to the trim in a flat finish and then the painted was distressed for contrasting finishes.

Love the gold sheen behind the paint on this dresser

It looks great when applied to recessed areas and really makes the drawers pop.

Please keep an eye on and the blog and we will announce when our new Gilding Waxes have arrived!!
