Dreaming of Spring: Unique Planter Ideas To Get A Head Start On Your Garden

This awful weather we have been experiencing lately has me dreaming of spring, and when I dream of spring I dream green. If you've ever met us you know how much we love plants and repurposing over here at Phantastic Phinds. Today we're going to combine the two into one Phantastic blog post. Here are some great ideas for some very cool planters. Most of the materials needed can be found here at Phantastic Phinds or another second hand shop.
Old wagons, especially the iconic red & white radio flyer can be used make a great mobile garden.

Fill with rocks to make a great succulent garden.

Attach it to a sewing machine base to make a raised planter
Or a bar.
You can use an old birdcage as a great moss lined planter or just a case for your potted plant.

Take an old dresser that has seen better days and turn it into an herb garden or multi-tiered planter.

From colanders to pots and pans, lots of kitchen wares make excellent planters.

Thread your umbrella through a bunt pan for a great outdoor table centerpiece.

This four tiered planter uses kitchen funnels so all the water drains down into the next planter.

This polished pewter teapot made a great succulent planter.

Old teapots can be inexpensive and very easy to find. Don't worry about a chip or two, they're going to live outside.
Don't forget to look into your recycling bin for more ideas.

Or just use parts of the kitchen itself like this old sink planter.

Here are some other great ideas that I found.

This old chandelier was painted red and turned into an ivy planter.

Old tool or tackle boxes can be mounted to almost any surface.

Even old toys make cute planters.
Have an old bicycle with a basket? Then you have a potential planter.

Old watering can won't hold water? Well, it'll hold some dirt and plants.

Don't feel like fixing the rush or cane seat on that old chair in your basement or attic? Then paint it and make it into a planter.

Even your old grill can be used as a planter and or potting table.

Everything from old boots...

...to boom boxes, TV's and typewriters can be planters. All it takes is a little imagination and a great vintage store like Phantastic Phinds to help you find the right materials.

Stay warm and keep those thoughts focused on spring.
