This Into That

Sometimes a common object just needs a little push to be something really excellent. For instance, take this napkin holder that we just got in.

In my house, we don't really use a napkin holder because we'd have to refill it every two seconds (it seems), but this napkin holder is so cute! I started to wonder what else you could do with it. A quick google search suggests that napkin holders make excellent bill organizer! I don't know about you but I definitely need a way of organizing my bills.

It might sound kind of crazy but we constantly say in the shop that old wooden ladders are great for display. Look at this great rustic ladder we just got in the shop. (I personally want one for a shoe shelf.)

If you don't believe us, check out this inspiring photo from the SOHI website. The weathered wood from the ladder and the aged glass bottles add a perfect touch to this display and really play well off the white and newness of the towel and seashell.

From time to time in the shop we get in vintage school desks because they are just so versatile!

My mom has one that she is using as a table beside her couch, but if you are looking for a more kid friendly approach check out these pics.

I love the beautiful blue color that Northern Cottage painted this desk! And the post that this picture links to says that scalloped piece is actually a chalk board! How adorable?! (Looking for windows? We have those, too.)

Angela loves maps so I had to also post this school desk redo when I saw it on Pinterest. From Nouvelle Vie Furniture this is a great idea for re-purposing a desk.

One more thing that is easy to use and without having to do much DIY at all are vintage hand mirrors. They create a beautiful silhouette when hung on a wall and are usually more ornate than modern day mirrors.

See? Pretty and useful. Here are some inspiration pins to get you going.

In this picture the mirrors are a beautiful vintage touch to a mostly modern room. The reflection from the mirrors increase the natural light.

The mirrors in this pin add a charming touch to a rather unusual display. This would be great if you owned a shop!

Well, that is all the inspiration I have for you today. Check back again and remember, if you like what you see please leave a comment below!
