1940's Mahogany Hutch Gets A Makeover

I love 1940's dining room pieces (buffet, hutch, chairs, you name it)! Their lines are so clean and their shape has so much character. Vintage mahogany is strong and durable and always looks good with an updated coat of paint.

One of our customers recently sent us their before and after (and work in progress) pictures of a 1940's mahogany hutch they purchased from us. Check out their progress...
Original 1940's mahogany hutch with pediment top
Beautiful original hardware
The dated pediment top was removed and a custom dental molding was added
This piece was a little shorter than the customer wanted, so bun feet were added for a few inches of height
The doors were removed & the piece was prepped for paint
Sanding in just the right spots add SO much charm to this piece
The glass is removed & chicken wire added to the doors
 I love the soft blue.

Thank you Michelle for the pictures you have sent. ~Angela

  1. Thanks for posting this - we are considering painting our 1940's dining room suite that looks a lot like this one - wonder what Angela has done with the table??
